Ludhiana: A Swachh Bharat Abhiyan team from Delhi visited the Ludhiana railway station early on Tuesday and conducted intensive checks on food stalls and vendors operating inside the station premises.
The delegates have issued strict guidelines to the food vendors and told them to meet all cleanliness norms.
Station director Tarun Kumar said, “During the inspection, officials clicked pictures of bathrooms and platforms and gathered data regarding the station cleanliness. This has been sent to the higher authorities for ranking the station among the top 100 in the country as part of the Swachh survey of India Railway.”
“The aim of the inspection was to take stock of the working of class fourth employees and checking the cleanliness standards of the city railway station,” Kumar added.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), over 5.4 lakh villages and 585 districts have been declared open defecation free (ODF). As many as 27 states and Union territories have declared themselves ODF so far. Over 9 crore toilets have been built across rural India, the station director said.
