Beams hospitalised after bad reaction to pain medication

Collingwood star Dayne Beams has been hospitalised after an adverse reaction to pain medication.

Beams, who has had multiple surgeries in recent months on both his hip and his shoulder, was taken to hospital on Wednesday, accompanied by his wife Kelly.

Collingwood confirmed Beams had been admitted to hospital.

"Dayne continues to meet the challenges he's been open about, with the assistance of his family, medical professionals and Collingwood," the club said in a statement.

"He was admitted to a Melbourne hospital on Wednesday as a part of his ongoing treatment program.

"Dayne and his family thank everyone for respecting his privacy."
