Vadodara: Back-to-back reports on how the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) is enjoying ‘special status’ at M S University by not adhering to rules and regulations related to examinations and academics, has forced the university officials to intervene.
MSU’s in-charge registrar N K Ojha on Wednesday directed dean of FMS professor J D Jadeja to enforce examination and academic rules and regulations and procedures of the university.
At the same time, faculty dean has been asked to submit entire examination record including question papers, answer keys and answer books of last academic year to exam section latest by Thursday evening.
Citing an earlier syndicate resolution, Ojha has directed deputy registrar (exam/academic) to enforce all rules, regulations and codal procedures of examinations/ academics in FMS with immediate effect.
“The syndicate has observed and found that the pre-examinations and post-examinations under FMS are not conducted at par with the rest of the university examinations. Therefore, it is resolved that all the examinations under the FMS are to be conducted as per the existing approved modalities, rules and regulations of the university in force meant for pre-examinations with immediate effect,” the directive issued to deputy registrar states.
Deputy registrar (exam) has also been directed to implement the syndicate’s resolution immediately and submit action taken report at the earliest.
While asking the dean to put his faculty in order, MSU officials also met the final year girl student who was denied reassessment of answer books by the faculty.
“We have assured her that all her grievances will be resolved. She has also filled up reassessment form,” said a university official.
TOI had carried a series of reports highlighting the fact that unlike all 13 other faculties, FMS was simply not following university rules related to exams.
The faculty neither keeps university’s examination section in loop nor does it allow reassessment of answer books to students. In fact, it is only at the end of the fourth semester that results of the students are directly informed to the university exam section.
Shockingly, the university’s exam section isn’t even aware about the modality through which the faculty conducts its exams.
The exams are conducted without proper vigil while the faculty has also not adopted the digital framework of the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited through which students can track their academic and exam records digitally.
