Join us for the launch of the 33rd Canada Shrine Bowl! During this activity, this year’s King and Queen of the 2019 Shrine Bowl will share their stories along with special guests from the Montreal Alouettes (including the cheerleaders and mascot) who will speak about sports injuries and the recovery process to return to the game. As well, many of our incredible patients will participate in some exciting “pro football” training activities prepared and coached by Concordia Stingers players.

Attend this exceptional and inspirational launch to learn more about our Shrine Bowl game. This year, Concordia Stingers are facing the Université Laval’s Rouge et Or on Saturday, September 7th. The honorary Chairman of this exceptional event, key players as well as official hospital representatives will be available for interviews. Media will have the opportunity to visit hospitalized patients along with the football players, coaches and the King and Queen of the Canada Shrine Bowl.

ACTIVITIES WITH OUR PATIENTS DURING THE LAUNCH

Activity 1: Running back drills
Ladder footwork drills with emphasis on handoffs and ball safety. Children will do foot patterns with a football and learn how to give and receive a handoff properly.

Activity 2: Passing lesson and target practice + OBJ catching warm up.
Children will receive instruction on how to properly throw a football, and then they will practice those skills on a target.

Activity 3: Tackling
Children will be instructed on how to tackle properly on a bag, there will also be other bags that they will need to maneuver around before tackling.

Activity 4: Reaction Game and Kicking
New reaction game that is very popular. Will end with all children trying to make a field goal.
