CHENNAI:
MDMK leader
Vaiko on Wednesday condemned the
Tamil Nadu government for yielding to the Centre’s pressure to implement the ‘one country- one ration card’ scheme.
After attending a meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, minister for food R Kamaraj said that the people from other states would able to avail ration items through the universal public distribution system in Tamil Nadu soon. The state government was taking efforts to materialise it.
Criticising the minister’s statement, Vaiko said that it clearly indicated that the state government had surrendered itself to the Centre. It would affect 1.99 crore cardholders in the state. Hence, the TN government should not adopt the ‘one nation - one ration card’ scheme,’ he said in a statement.
