NEW DELHI: A state-level hockey player and his three associates were arrested for their alleged involvement in a spate of carjacking incidents and armed robberies in Delhi and Haryana.
Jagdeep Mor once represented Haryana in hockey, but soon turned rogue after the murder of his brother in a gang war with a rival faction, DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.
To avenge the killing, Mor, who belongs to Jind, formed a gang and started committing a series of crimes. Further, to make a name, he posted videos of him with firearms. Police suspect that the accused had come to Delhi to kill a rival.
Police have recovered four pistols, 16 cartridges and a magazine from the accused. A stolen Toyota Fortuner and a Honda City have also been seized. “Apart from Mor, we have arrested his associates Rahul, Manjeet and Ravinder,” Biswal added. The arrests were made by a special task force comprising ACP Jagdish Yadav and inspector Mukesh Moga.

Mor was first arrested in 2016 for carrying a firearm and was jailed in Haryana where he met a gangster Satbir and joined him.
Last week, Mor and the others hired a Fortuner from Chandigarh to come to Delhi. On the way, they shot at the car driver and fled with the vehicle. The driver, however, informed the local police about the incident, which inturn alerted Delhi Police. All the three were intercepted near Pul Prahladpur and arrested. They will be handed over to Haryana police for further interrogation.
