Man arrested for attacking woman rly station master

Coimbatore: A 36-year-old habitual offender was arrested on Tuesday for attempting to murder a woman railway station master at Ettimadai last week. The government railway police (GRP) in Podanur have seized from him the knife he used for assaulting the officer.
The arrested was identified as M Ferozky, of Shoranur in Kerala. According a government railway police officer, Ferozky entered the office of Ettimadai railway station master R Anjana, 28, around 1am on August 29 and asked her about the train to Pattambi. When she replied him that there was no train service to Pattambi at night hours, Ferozky, who was in an inebriated state, pulled out a knife and assaulted her.
Anjana suffered injuries to her lower jaw and fingers on her left hand. Though she raised an alarm, Ferozky managed to escape. A native of Walayar, Anjana was admitted to the Palakkad government hospital.
Based on her complaint, the government railway police in Podanur registered a case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and formed three special teams to nab the him. The teams later left for Pattambi and Kottakkal in Kerala to nab the assailant.

The teams arrested Ferozky near Ettimadai railway station on Tuesday around 3am. He was produced before the judicial magistrate court -VI and later lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody.
Dhanalakshmi, inspector of police, GRP, Podanur, said Ferozky had more than 40 cases, including that of chain and mobile snatching, pending against him in Kerala.
