KOLHAPUR: The Kolhapur city and district, still recovering from the recent flooding that had disrupted normal life, are expected to get moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days. Water discharge from the major dams in both Kolhapur and Satara is continuing due to the incessant rainfall in the past few days in the ghat areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that overcast conditions with rains are set to prevail over the city and district for another week.
The Kolhapur irrigation department said that on Monday morning, the Almatti dam was discharging water at the rate of 14,991 cusecs while the discharge was around 24,830 cusecs from the Koyna dam. The discharge from the Chandoli dam was 5,460 cusecs and 1,400 cusecs from the Radhanagari dam.

The consistent rainfall in the upper catchment areas in Radhanagari and Gaganbawda has seen the water level in the Panchaganga river rising. The level had dropped to around 14ft a week ago but was around 17.1fet on Monday.
Meanwhile, the regional weather summary from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, said that the southwest monsoon was vigorous over Saurashtra and Kutch and active over Konkan-Goa, North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Gujarat region. Rainfall occurred at most places in Konkan-Goa, North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch and at many places over South Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat region.
