Teacher booked for sexual harassment

Gorakhpur: A class XII girl student of a public school situated in Belghat area on Monday filed a police complaint against her school teacher on charges of sexual harassment. Police have registered a case against the teacher and launched investigations.
The block education officer has said that the school is running unapproved class XII classes and legal action will be taken against the school manager.
“On the written complaint of the girl, a case against the school teacher Ashwin Gupta has been registered under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and POCSO Act. We have initiated a probe and a search has been launched for the teacher,” said CO Gola, Satish Chandra Shukla.
School manager Rampratap Yadav said, “The girl never told me about the sexual harassment and I never threatened her of less numbers in practical subjects.”
Belghat block education officer Udaibhan Kushwaha said, “The school is running class XII without approval and a notice had already been served to it. Now, legal action will be taken against the school manager in this regard.”
