Traffic diversions for idol processions tomorrow

In view of the Vinayaka idol processions to be taken out by various Hindu organisations in the city on September 5 (Thursday), the police have announced traffic diversions in the following roads from 8 a.m.to 9 p.m.

Superintendent of Police S. Sakthi Ganesan in a press release said that procession will begin at Sampath Nagar – Nasiyanur Road junction after which it will pass through Periya Valasu Four Road, Municipal Colony Road, Mettur Road, Brough Road, Kamarajar Road, Eswaran Kovil Street, Manikoondu, Kandasamy Road, Cauvery Road and reach Cauvery Bridge.

Heavy vehicles, including buses from Salem, Tiruchengode and Namakkal should reach Pallipalayam, Kumarapalayam, Bhavani Road to reach bus stand or take S.P.B. Colony, Paper Mill, Ponni Sugars, Vendipalayam, Solar, Annamar Petrol Bunk and Kalaimadu Silai to reach bus stand.

Vehicles from Coimbatore and Tiruppur should take Perundurai Road, Karaparai Pirivu, Villarasampatti Four Road, Kanirowther Kulam, and Sathy Road to reach bus stand. Vehicles from Perundurai and proceeding towards Tiruchengode and Namakkal should reach Perundurai, Nasiyanur Lakshmi Nagar, Kumarapalayam and Pallipalayam and proceed.

Vehicles from Dharapuram, Kangayam, Kodumudi and Karur should take Kalaimadu Silai, Railway Station Road, E.V.N. Road or P.S. Park. Buses from municipal bus stand and proceeding towards Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Ooty should take Sathy Road, Chithode and reach the National Highway. Likewise, buses to Perundurai through Thindal should take Sathy Road, Kanirowther Kulam, Nasiyanur Road, Veerapampalayam Road to reach Perundurai Road.

Buses from Erode bus stand towards Karur and Dharapuram should take Sakthi Road, Masjid Street, Krishna Theatre, Town Police Station, Gandhiji Road, Kalaimadu Silai and proceed. Buses proceeding towards Salem and Namakkal should take Bhavani Road, Lakshmi Nagar and Salem Bypass to reach Kumarapalayam and Pallipalayam.

Mr. Sakthi Ganesan said that other light vehicles should avoid using the roads where procession would take place, especially Cauvery Road, and instead use alternative roads to reach their destination.
