CHENNAI:
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (
CMRL) on Tuesday warned of
legal action against those who indulge in unauthorised fixing of
posters on metro rail structures.
The announcement comes after several steps to control the poster menace at the metro rail stations and corridors had failed.
In a release, CMRL said unauthorised affixing of posters, bills and others on piers, barricades and other structures of metro railway project was an illegal act under Section 62 (2) of the Metro Railway Act 2002.
It further said that such pasting or putting up of posters or writing advertisements on any premises of metro railway and trains would be liable for imprisonment up to a term of six months, or a fine of Rs 1,000 or both.
