6 celebrity hairstyles that are perfect inspiration for the wedding guest

Time and again, celebrities have served several no-fuss, no-muss hairstyles that are just right for wedding season. Ahead, we decode our favourite ones

You’ve RSVP’d to the upcoming weddings on your social calendar, and even decided on your sartorial line-up. Now, it’s time to plan the finishing touches—your hair and makeup looks. As a wedding guest, you have the perfect opportunity to dress to the nines (without the pressure of being a bride). It might be easier to whip up a beauty look last minute, but you don’t want to miss the mark with a hairstyle that’s too casual. An on-point hairdo can elevate your ethnic outfit to the next level, which is why we decided to put together a handy guide to help you choose the right one—with a little help from Bollywood’s trendsetters, of course. From braided hairstyles to classic updos, you’ll find plenty of options in here.

Half-up twists

Turn to this two-step process hairdo when you’re pressed for time, which means you can put it together even on your way to the wedding. Simply divide your hair into a middle parting, and take a small section from the right side of your crown. Twist it back and hold it in place with a bobby pin. Repeat the process on the other side to complete the look.

Sleek floral buns

While top knots seem to be getting the spotlight lately, a low bun makes for a timeless, versatile hairstyle that will never go out of style. It’s also perfect to conceal a bad hair day and complements almost every ethnic silhouette. We recommend adding a gajra to elevate a traditional look, just like Deepika Padukone did for Akash Ambani’s wedding.

Messy, textured buns

A windswept messy bun, which has found favour among several celebrities including Janhvi Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, among others, will do you well if you don't want a hairstyle that looks too put together. To recreate it, spritz your hair with a sea salt spray. Twist random sections of your hair into knots and secure with bobby pins. Unravel the pins after a few minutes, and tie your hair in a ponytail. Begin twisting the ponytail, then wrap it around its own base before looping it into a bun.

Versatile braids

From a messy braid to a tight fishtail option, there’s endless inspiration to play with this look. You can dress your braid with tiny flowers to channel the bohemian vibe, opt for a half-up half-down hairstyle with tiny plaits running through the lengths, or have them concentrated at just the crown area.

A textured ponytail

Anushka Sharma’s high ponytail incorporating a bouffant, is a great option for wedding season inspiration. To create it, spray your hair with a texturising spray after blow-drying it. Isolate the front section of your mane, and then create a high messy ponytail with an elastic band with the leftover hair at the back. Divide the front section in the middle, and tease it for volume. Brush both parts back and tuck them into the ponytail, creating a lift at your crown area. Secure these in place with bobby pins, and take a small section of hair from the back to conceal the elastic band.

Side-swept waves

To accentuate a dramatic cocktail outfit, try Bipasha Basu’s good ol’ Hollywood-style waves. All you need is a curling wand, bobby pins and your fingers. Use the iron to create large curls in your hair, and lightly comb it with your fingers once you’re done. Brush your mane to one side, and insert pins to it in place. Spritz on some shine spray to complete it.
