BOSTON — Red Sox manager Alex Cora led his Tuesday pregame remarks by offering his best to the citizens of the Bahamas.

The islands are still being lashed by the monstrous Hurricane Dorian, a Category 5 storm that has caused widespread destruction. Cora and his native Puerto Rico were scarred two years ago by Hurricane Maria, whose deadly wind and waves killed thousands of people and left large sections of the island without electricity and clean drinking water.

“I thought two years ago was unreal – what I saw video-wise, and then when I went back home,” Cora said. “But this is tough to watch. Obviously with time I know a lot of people are going to help these people out. Keep praying. It’s hard to believe.”
