Hasin Jahan, wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami shared her thoughts on the issued arrest warrant by the court against Shami in the domestic violence case on Tuesday.
The Alipore court issued a warrant against the Indian cricketer and his brother Hasid Ahmed on Monday.
The court has asked him to surrender within 15 days else, else he will be arrested.
"I'm grateful to the judicial system. I have been fighting for justice for more than a year now. You all know, Shami thinks that he is all too powerful, that he is a big cricketer," she said.
"Had I not been from West Bengal, had Mamata Banerjee not been our CM, I wouldn't have been able to live safely here."
"Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) police was trying to harass me and my daughter, it was God's grace that they didn't succeed," she added.
Hasin Jahan had lodged a complaint against Shami and his elder brother Hasib Ahmed on March 8, 2018.
The Indian pacer had denied all charges of threat, infidelity and dowry demand. Later that month, Jahan's secret statement was recorded before a magistrate at the Alipore Court and in April that year, she had filed a petition demanding monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh for herself and her daughter.
On Monday, The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) officials said that they will be holding talks with Mohammad Shami’s legal heads in the next few of days to get an update regarding the case.
“We are aware of the situation and the first thing we are doing on Tuesday is to speak to Shami’s lawyer,” the official said.
“We want to get a full update on the case. The officials in BCCI has spoken to Shami before the start of the fourth day. We need to be prepared for any eventuality."
