ROHTAK: Taking a jibe at Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s statewide ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’, Swaraj India president
Yogendra Yadav on Monday said the CM instead should take out a ‘repentance’ rally for not honouring BJP’s poll promises made ahead of the last assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference here, Yadav said the BJP had promised jobs to youths, but information under the RTI Act revealed that there are 15 lakh jobless youths in the state.
“In the assembly, the government had given a figure of six lakh jobless youths in the state and admitted of giving jobs to one lakh job aspirants. The question is if we believe even the government data, then there are five lakh youths who did not get job as promised by the ruling BJP,” Yadav said.
Challenging the CM for a debate on issues of corruption and unemployment, Yadav said they had requested Khattar to meet them on September 8 in Karnal and answer their queries related to increasing the unemployment rate.
The Swaraj India leader said while the country’s unemployment rate was 6.3%, it was more than three times in Haryana (20.5%), a serious concern for a state that has many advantages due to its proximity to the national capital New Delhi.
Taking on main opposition parties of Haryana, Yadav said while the BJP was going on with its agenda at full pace despite not performing in the past five years, the main political parties are suffering from infighting.
He said when issues like unemployment, poor economy and women’s safety deserve a strong voice, the opposition has turned silent and toothless.
The Swaraj India chief said his party had launched nine-day-long ‘Jan Sarokar Abhiyan’ from Gurgaon on Sunday which would culminate in Karnal on September 8.
