Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths nabbed
smugglers while they were transporting 100
Zepose (diazepam) tablets abroad through a private courier agency. The accused, whose identities are yet to be established, had concealed the tablet strips inside sweets to avoid detection from law enforcement agencies.
Acting on specific information, the NCB team of Hyderabad unit kept a watch on courier service offices in city. On Sunday, they seized a parcel from the DHL courier service office in Hyderabad.
“The parcel was booked in the name of an individual who is a resident of California, USA. The persons who booked the courier did not come directly to the DHL office. They used other courier agencies to book the parcel for international delivery,” said a NCB official.
As per the markings on the tablet strips, the Zepose 10 mg tablets were manufactured by RX Enterprise, Clifton Park, New York for NPS Pharmacy, Spring Hill, Florida. However, the consignment was booked for an address in California, USA, according to NCB officials.
Diazepam tablets are used for treating anxiety, alcohol withdrawal and sleeping disorders.
