The recruitment test for assistant and secretary posts in Village and Ward Secretariats went off smoothly across the State with an attendance of over 92% both in the morning and afternoon sessions on Sunday, the first day of the eight-day exam schedule.
As many as 14.30 lakh of the 15.49 lakh registered appeared for the examination conducted for 47, 607 posts of panchayat secretary, ward women and weaker sections protection secretary (Mahila Police), welfare and education secretary and ward administrative secretary under category I (36, 449 posts) in the morning and digital assistant (11, 158 posts) under category III in the afternoon.
In the category I recruitment, the ratio of vacant posts to number of candidates was around 1: 31 and in the category III the ratio is 1: 24.
The examination, conducted in over 5,000 centres across the State, was overseen by the District Collectors.
In the city, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Girija Shankar, Krishna Collector A.Md. Imtiaz, VMC Commissioner V. Prasanna Venkatesh and others inspected the centres and ensured all arrangements wee in place.
RTC services
APSRTC operated 1,945 services in the State to help candidates reach examination centres, according to a release.
The initial key for four sets of category I examination was released on the Grama Sachivalayam website. Six lakh other candidates are expected to appear for 12 tests for 12 posts up to September 8.
Meanwhile, officials enforced the rules against late comers and reportedly stopped few candidates after 10 a.m. in the morning session and 2.30 p.m. in the afternoon session from taking the examination.
Candidates were allowed into examination halls from 9.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the morning and evening respectively. Separate examination centres were allotted for female and male candidates.
