Rains ensure pleasant weather for next few days

Ludhiana: It was a pleasant Sunday for residents of the city as rains lashed various parts of the city, after days of hot and sultry weather. The Met department has predicted rainfall in the city for the next two days.
While the day temperatures were on a lower side, the night temperatures were recorded on a higher side. The maximum temperature in city on Sunday was recorded at 31.7 degrees, which was a degree less than normal, the total rainfall recorded in the city was 2 millimetres between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. The minimum (night) temperature on Sunday was recorded at 27.9 degrees, which is three degrees above normal. The relative humidity level in Ludhiana on Sunday was recorded at 88% which is 3-8% more than normal and even 1% more than on Saturday.

Director Met Department Chandigarh, Surender Paul said, “The monsoon is active and there are chances of light to moderate showers in Ludhiana in next two days. The rainfall may be recorded between 20 to 40 millimetres during these days. As a result of rainfall, the temperatures are expected to fall during the coming days. He added that moderate rainfall might occur in Ludhiana from September 7 onward. The met department website meanwhile predicts day temperature to fall to 31 degrees till coming Saturday whereas the night temperature is expected to fall to 25 degrees till the same date.
Residents are however elated with the change in weather. “It had been very hot during the last many days and rain came in as blessing on Sunday. Pleasant weather has come as a welcome relief,” said Kulwant Singh, a trader of Pakhowal road.
