Nasil files civil case against Thushar in Dubai court

Thiruvananthapuram: Nasil Abdullah, the UAE-based expatriate who filed a cheque bounce complaint against Thushar Vellappally, has also filed a civil case against the BDJS leader. The civil case was filed in Dubai court, requesting court’s intervention in recovering the money from Thushar as per the agreement. The criminal case for cheque bounce has been pending before an Ajman court.
Meanwhile, a leaked audio tape in which Nasil was allegedly speaking to one his friends claiming that he had trapped Thushar was aired by a section of visual media on Monday. In the audio, Nasil claimed that he had obtained the blank cheque signed by Thushar from one of his friends by paying money. It is claimed that Nasil had obtained the cheque by paying Rs 5 lakh to the man who had possessed the cheque. Thushar had earlier claimed that he had not given cheque to Nasil.
Thushar was arrested after a cheque of 10 million UAE Dirhams (Rs 19.52 crore) he had given to one of his business partners 10 years ago got bounced. The cheque was presented by Nasil before the bank.
However, Nasil later told reporters that the audio tape was being used to favour Thushar in the case. “Thushar himself has admitted that he owes me the money. The only difference between us is on the amount that has to be paid. Now, the attempt is being made to help Thushar flee Dubai such that he can delay the payment,” Nasil is learnt to have claimed.

As per the reports, the company run by Nasil had taken sub-contract of a firm — Boeing Constructions — which was previously owned by Thushar’s father Vellappally Natesan. Even though Natesan sold the company, he is learned to have failed to clear the dues.
Thushar has been trying for an out-of-the-court settlement. However, all the discussions failed since the complainant demanded Rs 6 crore and Thushar was not willing to provide the same. Thushar also tried to seek the permission of the court to leave the country by surrendering the passport of a Dubai national in the court. The Ajman court had rejected this plea and Thushar is continuing in Dubai.
