Thiruvananthapuram: Creating a safe and comfortable zone for
breastfeeding women during their journeys, a startup, mentored by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), has launched a project for installing state-of-the-art breastfeeding pods at major railway stations across the state.
Christened ‘Domatio’, the new-age
breastfeeding pod has already been set up in Thrissur
railway station and the facility will be opened in
Thiruvananthapuram Central and Ernakulam South in the coming days.
‘I Love 9 Months’, a maternity wellness startup, is implementing the project in association with KSUM; CIMAR Hospital, Kochi; and Saroja Hospital, Thrissur.
Rajesh Chandran, senior divisional commercial manager, IRTS, will inaugurate ‘Domatio’at the
Central Railway Station here at 11am on Tuesday. Dr Anupama R, president, IMA Thiruvananthapuram, will be present on the occasion.
M Beena, chairman, Cochin Port Trust, will inaugurate the project at Ernakulam South railway station on Thursday in the presence of Gokul Gopinath, CEO- CIMAR, and Edappal Hospitals.
Minister for agriculture V S Sunil Kumar launched ‘Domatio’ at Thrissur railway station on August 30. Dr Krishnan Pisharody, managing director, Saroja Hospitals, was present on the function.
‘Domatio’ is designed to help women comfortably breastfeed infants in public places like shopping malls, restaurants, hospitals, zoo, bus stand, and railway stations etc.
In December, last year, the company set up a lactation pod at Technopark. The lactation pod at the ground floor of Tejaswini building is used by many working mothers who pump and store breast milk during work intervals.
