PUNE: The Chandannagar police on Sunday detained three men for allegedly setting a sports utility vehicle on fire on the Old Mundhwa Road in Vadgaonsheri in the early hours of Saturday.
The vehicle belonged to their relative. The three men torched the SUV after an argument with the relative.

The SUV’s owner Bhawarlal Chowdhary (54) is from Vadgaonsheri. He lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday morning.
According to the complaint, Chowdhary’s daughter-in-law regularly picked up arguments with his wife and other relatives over several domestic issues. She got married to Chowdhary’s son a few months ago.
The police said Chowdhary’s daughter-in-law would regularly complain about the domestic issues and tell her parents and other relatives about the same.
Chowdhary’s in-laws were perturbed with the regular fights between the members of the family, the police said. “After the argument with Chowdhary and his family on Saturday, the in-laws left Chowdhary’s home. His SUV was then spotted in flames around 3.30am,” the police added.

Police said the suspects first poured some inflammable liquid on the SUV, following which they set it ablaze. The entire vehicle was gutted in the incident.
A CCTV camera located in the area recorded the incident, following which the involvement of his in-laws came into the picture.
