34-day Guru Nanak Sadbhavana yatra kicks off

Karnal: To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the second phase of 34-day Guru Nanak Sadbhavana Yatra was flagged off from Dera Karsewa here on Sunday. The yatra will cover Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and also Nepal and Bangladesh. A total of 550 saplings would be planted in all the main cities covered during the yatra.

Convener of the yatra and president of the National Integrated Forum of Artists (NIFA), Pritpal Singh Pannu, said to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, a countrywide yatra was being organised by Shiromani Gatka Federation of India and NIFA. He said they had planned the nationwide journey to cover all states. “Baba Sukha Singh is leading the yatra. The first phase of yatra was concluded on July 31 and in the second phase it will reach Karnal in October,” Pannu said.
The third phase of yatra, which start on October 10, will cover Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Dubai. The last leg would cover all districts of Haryana and Punjab and reach Kartarpur corridor to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
