PUNE: The Hinjewadi police arrested a 31-year-old man on Saturday for robbing a woman and molesting another by threatening them after barging into their houses.
The suspect was identified as Ashish Mohan Dhaygude (31), a resident of Warje. The police have solved three such cases after his arrest and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs2.02 lakh from his possession.
A team led by inspector Ajay Jogdand and sub-inspector Aniruddha Gije nabbed him at Bavdhan following a tip-off. He was produced before a city court and remanded to police custody till Monday.
Dhaygude targets woman who are alone at their flats around noon. “On July 21, he barged into a house in Bavdhan. He then threatened the woman, who was alone at the house, with a sharp weapon and robbed gold ornaments worth Rs2.02 lakh. He covered the woman’s mouth to stop her from raising an alarm,” Jogdand said.
The suspect has also stabbed a woman after barging into her hosue in Hinjewadi. “The woman retaliated and raised an alarm. He then fled the house,” Girje said.
Dhaygude has also molested a woman in Bavdhan. “In2015, the Dattawadi and Khadak police stations had arrested him for similar cases. Our probe is on,” Girje added.
