PATNA:
Patna divisional commissioner
Anand Kishor on Sunday asked the executive engineers of road construction department (RCD) to widen Bari Path and Karbigahiya roads by removing squatters and illegal structures. The move, according to officials, will ease traffic movement on the two roads.
Kishor issued the order while overseeing anti-encroachment drive in
Bankipore circle. He asked the executive engineers to construct a road on the southern side of another road at Karbigahiya from where encroachments were removed recently. He also asked the engineers to cover the open drain in the locality.
The divisional commissioner instructed the executive officer of Bankipore circle to take measurement of all shops on Bari Path and demolish the illegal structures on the road. “The officials concerned will first verify the papers of shop owners. In case of encroachment, the Patna Municipal Corporation officials will be asked to demolish the illegal structures. After the eviction drive, we will widen the road,” Kishor said.
He added, “The executive engineers of RCD will take end-to-end measurement of Bari Path and make a concrete plan to ease traffic on the road.
Kishor took strong exception to the writing of RCD/ROW (right of way) by the personnel of road construction department on the buildings which have not encroached upon the road. The RCD personnel wrote this in course of doing measurement of the roads in the city.
City traffic SP D Amarkesh, additional town commissioner Sheila Irani and executive engineer Shahab Alam were present during the eviction drive in Bankipore circle on Sunday.
