Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) suspended an assistant scientist for allegedly issuing fake work orders to Hisar, Delhi and Jaipur firms. It has also initiated disciplinary action against him. Hisar police registered a criminal case against him, the accused has not been arrested yet.
Hisar police spokesperson said Civil Line police station has registered a case on the complaint of
Baljeet Singh, administrative officer of HARSAC against Ankur Sharma under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged [document or electronic record]) of
Indian Penal Code.
In his complaint, Baljeet said on August 11, HARSAC received an email from Pankaj Singh stating stating that Ankur had provided him some documents and agreement executed by Dr V C Arya, the chief scientist of HARSAC. He requested Baljeet to clarify the validity of the documents. Pankaj also sent the copy of the letter dated August 6 to Baljeet.
“After investigation, it was found out that the letter written on August 6 and was signed by Ankur. Similarly, a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 101 was taken from the Haryana government’s website and its three pages contained signature of Ankur and fake signature the chief scientist of the HARSAC,” Baljeet said.
Further probing revealed that Ankur had been involved in more such cases where he had fraudulently used his position to con people. He has been placed under suspension on August 22 and HARSAC has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against him.
Police said the case has been handed over to assistant sub-inspector Balwant Singh.
