KANPUR: The authorities of Government Polytechnic have suspended a second year student of the college on the complaint of ragging a first year student.
The decision was taken on the basis of the recommendations of the disciplinary committee of the polytechnic which had conducted a preliminary investigation into the complaint on August 27.
The student Ramesh Kumar (name changed), a second year student of the chemical engineering departmet has been suspended for a week from all types of academic works, including attending classes.
Principal of the polytechnic, Mukesh Chandra Anand, said that Ramesh has been directed to be present before the disciplinary committee of the college along with his parents within a week.

If he failed to report before the disciplinary committee, then either his suspension period could be extended or he could be rusticated from the college, the principal further said.
