PATNA: The Patna police on Saturday took Mokama MLA Anant Singh on two-day remand for interrogation in connection with recovery of an AK-47 assault rifle, 26 live cartridges, a magazine and two hand grenades from his house at Ladma village under the Barh police station area in rural Patna on August 16.
Singh had been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following the recoveries. The Barh ACJM court had granted two-day police remand of Anant on Thursday.
The police have also taken Anant’s close aide Lallu Mukhiya on two-day remand in a separate case pertaining to murderous attack on Anant’s arch rival Bhola Singh and his brother Mukesh Singh. Eight people, including the MLA and Lallu, were made named accused in an FIR lodged with Pandarak police station on July 15 in connection with the case.
SP (rural) Kantesh Kumar Mishra told TOI over the phone that if required, Anant and Lallu would be cross questioned in front of each other.

Lallu had surrendered before Barh AJCM court on Thursday. His brother Ranveer had surrendered before the police on August 20.
After evading arrest for almost a week, Anant had surrendered before the court of metropolitan magistrate Harun Pratap at Saket in New Delhi on August 23 in the arms and explosive recovery case. He was brought to Patna on transit remand and forwarded to Beur central jail on August 25.
