MANGALURU: Security across
Dakshina Kannada has been beefed up ahead of
Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations. Both Dakshina Kannada District Police and
Mangaluru City Police have deployed additional police personnel in areas which has Chathurthi celebrations and also sensitive places.
BM Laxmi Prasad, superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada said they have identified 19 very sensitive, 63 sensitive places out of 220 Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations in district police limits. For a smoother festival celebrations, 697 civil police personnel, five DAR, four KSRP battalion and 226 homeguards have been deployed.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru City Police have started route marches across city in backdrop of festival from Saturday.
In a meeting held with Ganesh Chathurthi festival organisers,
PS Harsha, city police commissioner, Mangaluru has urged them to give importance to safety. The other aspects include proper setting up pandal and electricity connections. Apart from it, he has also asked them to stress hygiene while preparing prasadam and mass feeding.
During idol immersion procession, the organisers asked to install barricade, proper illumination and deployment of expert swimmers on the spot. They are also directed to windup all celebrations on time and not to cause inconvenience to general public.
Other instructions are: stress on safety while bursting crackers, installation of CCTVs in pandal and no permission is given to DJ. Organisers are asked to remove banners, flex or buntings soon after celebrations are over.
