NOIDA: The mandal vice-president of BJP’s Jewar unit was shot at allegedly by his neighbours on Saturday night.
The accused, brothers Harkesh and Pankaj, and their father Jahangir allegedly attacked Hariom Sharma near his tubewell on Saturday night and Harkesh then shot at him, Hariom has alleged.
However, another account of the incident has emerged.
While hospital authorities told TOI that a bullet had grazed past his left shoulder, Hariom has said that the bullet had pierced his arm. Hariom has said he has two injuries where a bullet has entered and exited his arm.
The 40-year-old leader told TOI that around 9 pm on Saturday when he went to a tubewell on his field, about 100 m from his house,he saw four people standing there. “There was Harkesh, Pankaj and their father Jahangir, and with them was another man who had a cloth covering his face. They attacked me and started beating me up. They slapped and punched me and later, Harkesh took out a revolver and tried to shoot me in the chest,” Hariom said, adding that the bullet missed hit him in the shoulder. “Harkesh shot another bullet. But I was lucky that it also missed the target,” he said. Hariom has alleged that about 15 days ago, he had got “indirect threats” from Harkesh who called up a villager and told him to warn Hariom.
An FIR has been lodged against the trio under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). Hariom has been accused of outraging modesty and voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and house trespass in a complaint filed by the trio’s family.
Ajay Aggarwal, Jewar SHO, told TOI that they are verifying the allegations. “Hariom has serious allegations against him since last year and the matter is pending in court. The court had issued warrants against him,” he said adding that they are checking call records of the trio.
