With the final report on the death of Cafe Coffee Day founder V.G. Siddhartha corroborating the police investigation that it is a case of suicide, Police Commissioner P.S.Harsha has said the investigation now will look into reasons for suicide.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Harsha said the final report confirms the evidence gathered by the investigation officer indicated that Siddhartha committed suicide. “Now we look at the second part of the investigation, which is the reasons for his suicide,” he said.
The probe team has questioned some of Siddhartha’s employees and directors of Coffee Day Enterprises Limited. “The investigation officer will question more persons. We are looking at the case from all angles,” Mr. Harsha said.
Siddhartha reportedly jumped from the bridge across Netravathi river after walking for sometime on it on July 29. His body was found floating near the river mouth in Hoigebazar area on July 31.
A four-member team of experts carried out the autopsy and submitted a preliminary report to the police stating that the death of Siddhartha was due to asphyxia after drowning in the water. The final report, which was submitted on Saturday, has confirmed the findings made in the preliminary report.
