HD Kumaraswamy as CM treated me like an enemy, says Siddaramaiah

MYSURU: Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah on Sunday hit back at the JD(S) leadership, especially HD Kumaraswamy, chief minister of the previous JD(S)- Congress government, saying they collectively mistrusted his motives and it curdled the relationship between the coalition partners.
Siddaramaiah accused Kumaraswamy of “targeting” and “hating” him during his stint at the helm of the coalition government.
“Had he treated me as his friend and leader of the coalition partner, the JD(S)-Congress coalition would not have faced difficulties,” Siddaramaiah said. “The crux of the problem was Kumaraswamy treating me as his foe.”
Reacting sharply to Kumaraswamy’s accusations that the Congress leadership treated him like “clerical staff”, Siddaramaiah said: “Those who don’t know how to rule will have such excuses.”
Siddaramaiah’s comments come in the wake of Kumaraswamy allegedly saying in an interview to an online portal that Siddaramaiah considered JD(S) as his “enemy No.1”. Not long after Siddaramaiah’s reaction, Kumaraswamy issued a clarification saying sections of the media were “misinterpreting” his comments and “trying to twist” them to create a controversy when there is none.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah targeted the ruling BJP, saying its high command is seeking to centralize power and hence is not allowing chief minister BS Yediyurappa to rule the state. “This is a dangerous trend,” he said, pointing out that it has been a month since the BJP came to power, but it does not have a proper ministry.

“The BJP government is unconstitutional as it didn’t get the majority of the people. Yediyurappa is an illegitimate child of the present political situation,” Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah said Yediyurappa has become so helpless that he is unable to secure funds from the Centre to provide relief to flood-affected people in the state. “Though Union home minister Amit Shah and the Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman toured flood-hit areas, the Centre has not extended funds,” Siddaramaiah said.
