Innocent driver hit during Brisbane teens' alleged joyride in stolen car
A stolen car carrying four teenagers slammed into another car stopped at traffic lights, flipped and hit a power pole during a joyride in Brisbane's south overnight, according to police.
It will be alleged the black Holden Cruze, stolen from Raceview earlier on Sunday, was spotted by police about 9.50pm on Sunday on Ipswich Road in Annerley.
Officers followed the car, but it sped off once the driver saw the police car behind it.
The car was allegedly carrying a 17-year-old male driver and three passengers: a 17-year-old boy and girl as well as a 14-year-old girl.
Police said the stolen Cruze smashed into the back of a white Toyota that had stopped at lights at the intersection of Ipswich Road and Waterton Street in Annerley.
The Holden rebounded off the stationary car, flipped and was stopped by a power pole.
The four teenagers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
A man, believed to be aged in his 20s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital while two women were assessed by paramedics but did not need further treatment at hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
