Chidambaram-INX Media case LIVE: Ex-FM's plea against CBI remand not listed in SC today; 2 other petitions listed

Kapil Sibal, representing Chidambaram, mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Justice R Banumathi and said that during the last hearing, the court had said that the plea challenging the remand order would be taken up for hearing today but it has not been listed for arguments.
The bench told Sibal that Chidambaram's plea will be listed for hearing after the registry gets necessary orders from CJI Ranjan Gogoi. "The registry has some difficulty and we have to take orders from the Chief Justice," the bench told Sibal.

Only two out of Chidambaram’s three pleas have been listed today, News18 has reported. The plea against CBI custody has not been listed.
This is becuase the necessary orders could not be obtained from CJI during the day. The third plea has been sent to the Registry again to consider listing it along with other two petitions.
Proceedings in the Supreme Court will begin shortly. Chidambaram's pleas will be listed thereafter.

P Chidambaram was arrested on August 21 night from his Jor Bagh residence in New Delhi by the CBI in the INX Media case and was produced before a trial court on August 22, which remanded him to four-day CBI custody till today.

On August 23, the apex court had granted protection from arrest till today to Chidambaram in the case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The court has sought replies from ED on Chidambaram's plea and directed that all the three matters should be listed today.
SC to also hear Chidambaram’s fresh plea against arrest
A bench headed by Justice R Banumathi is also scheduled to hear a fresh plea by Chidambaram in which the former union minister has challenged the arrest warrant issued against him and the trial court's order remanding him to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)’s custody till today in the INX Media case.
