Chandigarh mason electrocuted: Kin gherao Daria police post

The family members demand an FIR be registered in the case
CHANDIGARH: The family members of the victim who was electrocuted on Friday gheraoed the police post in Daria village on Sunday demanding an FIR to be registered against the accused.
The victim, identified as Dinesh Kumar, 33, a resident of Daria who worked as a mason was electrocuted while working at an under-construction house of Ombir Singh, head constable with the UT police.
Over 70 people gheraoed the police post and raised slogans against the cops for not registering an FIR against the accused. The protesters alleged that the cops are trying to save Ombir as he is working with the UT police.

The family members did not allow for the post mortem to be conducted until an FIR is registered in the case. Later, the accused offered to pay a compensation to the family members after which both parties struck a compromise.
Victim's brother Mantu Singh said that they had been working on the second floor of Ombir's house. Around 7.30am, the deceased had gone to the house for seasoning its plaster. When Mantu went to the house for work, he found his brother lying on the ground and an electric wire touching his hand. He raised an alarm and Dinesh was rushed to GMSH-16, where doctors declared him dead.
