Tata Motors' upcoming compact SUV (codenamed: Blackbird) has been spotted testing.
The new model is expected to be based on the ALFA platform. The spy images suggest that it might get a split headlamp set up with LED daytime running lights. It also appears to have 5-spoke alloy wheels.
The Blackbird is expected to be larger than the Nexon but will not be as long as the Harrier. It is likely to feature Tata's Impact Design 2.0 styling elements. On the inside, it could get a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
Reports suggest that the Blackbird could get updated versions of the 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines from the Nexon.
The Tata Blackbird is expected to compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos in the Indian market.
