With instances of non-Hindus working in Hindu temples maintained by the Endowments Department coming to light, Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam said on Sunday that the government would crack the whip on those disguising their faith for the sake of a job.
Addressing the media here, he said the government would collect information on the priests and other staff working in various temples, and ensure that they adhered to their declared faith.
“In case any violation is found, they will be shown the door,” he made it clear. Surprise checks and door-to-door visits would be conducted to plug such loopholes. The rules enshrined in the A.P. Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act would be followed in letter and spirit, he said.
