Accused of diverting some of the furniture belonging to the Assembly to his house

Police have booked a case against former Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and his son Sivarama Krishna related to the missing of computers, furniture and other items belonging to the Assembly under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property).

Dr. Siva Prasada Rao is accused of diverting some of the furniture belonging to the Assembly to his house at Sattenapalli and a motorcycle showroom owned by Mr. Sivarama Krishna in the same town.

In his complaint to the Thullur police in Guntur district, Assembly section officer M. Eswara Rao said Dr. Siva Prasada Rao illegally diverted the furniture and retained it at unauthorised places.He said the furniture found on the premises belonging to Dr. Rao and his son had been diverted from Hyderabad. Police launched the investigation on the basis of the original complaint filed by Narsaraopet MLA Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy on August 22.

He accused Dr. Siva Prasada Rao of diverting the furniture for personal use. The former Speaker admitted that he possessed some furniture belonging to the Assembly and claimed to have duly informed the officials concerned.

Police are inquiring about other furniture claimed to have been stolen from the house of Dr. Rao, who is currently getting treated for chest pain.
