ALLAHABAD: Two delegations comprising inter-ministerial committee of experts and parliamentary committee will make a visit to trans-Yamuna area to assess the scope of the revival of closed and sick public sector units of
Naini industrial area.
The sick HCL unit situated in the same locality has been taken over by the Naini Aerospace Limited Naini Aerospace Limited (NAeL), a subsidiary of
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, on February 1, 2017 to build the structures of multirole and multi-mission advanced light Dhruv Helicopter.
The committees visiting the city would conduct feasibility study for re-starting of factories or on their
disinvestment without curtailing manpower. The committee will be headed by BJP MP Minakshi Lekhi.
“The visit is also an attempt to study if the sick industrial units can be linked with the proposed defence industrial corridor. The sick factories can be put to better use than their present status,” said MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi during her visit to the city.
“A meeting has been held with finance minister Niramala Sitharaman and MP Minakshi Lekhi in this regard. They have both agreed to conduct study to take a constructive decision beneficial to units and manpower working in them. Lekhi will soon visit the Naini industrial area,” she said.
Joshi added that it had been seen that upgradation and training of manpower of certain sick units had proved beneficial for the manpower of factories as well as for the nation.
In the case of NAeL, the ageing manpower of sick HCL was absorbed in the company and trained for acquiring skills in aerospace sector. The repair, renovation and infrastructure for aero-structures and aircraft loom manufacturing were created in a record time of one year with the help of staff.
