CPM must apologize for Sabarimala: BJP, Congress

T’PURAM/THRISSUR: Both BJP and Congress have asked CPM to apologize for the stand it took against the devotees on Sabarimala stand. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said that chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan should apologise to the people of the state if the CPM is earnest in its course correction on issues like entry of women at Sabarimala shrine.

Chennithala said if Vijayan is not ready to own up to the wrong he had committed in the Sabarimala issue, it can only be assumed that the current course correction of the CPM is only an eyewash to cover up the massive setback the party had to suffer in the last elections.
Taking a cue from the CPM's decision to mend the party’s ways in dealing with religious sentiments of people, BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai here on Saturday asked CPM leaders to correct their mistakes first and apologize to Sabarimala devotees.
