Thousands of candidates appear for exam

Thoothukudi

The examination for recruitment of Grade-II police constables, fire personnel and jail warders saw the participation of a large number of applicants on Sunday.

Out of the 9,599 applicants, 8,066 appeared for the test, including 6,990 male and 1076 female candidates. The test was held at eight centres in the district.

The conduct of the exam was overseen by R. Lalitha Lakshmi, DIG, Social Justice and Human Rights Wing and Superintendent of Police Arun Balagopalan.

Tirunelveli

Out of a total of 21,896 eligible applicants, 18,320 appeared for the exam, including 15,563 men, 2,756 women and one transgender.

Over 1,600 police personnel were deployed for security at 17 centres in the district where the examination was conducted.

Kanniyakumari

The examination saw the attendance of 7,369 out of 9,050 applicants at eight centres in the district. A total of 1,681 applicants did not turn up for the exam.

DIG (Tirunelveli Range) Praveen Kumar Abhinapu and Superintendent of Police Sreenath oversaw the conduct of the exam.
