HYDERABAD: Contrary to what was suspected by Miyapur police,
auto driver G Praveen who was murdered on Friday, was killed by prime accused Srikanth Yadav over
gang rivalry. The victim allegedly joined hands with Srikanth’s rival group leading to Srikanth feeling threatened.
Following the murder, Miyapur police suspected that non-repayment of loan amount by victim Praveen to financier Srikanth, to be the motive. But after nabbing Srikanth and his associate Naga Sinu, the police came to know that Srikanth’s wife D Swathi was also aware about the murder conspiracy and all three accused were arrested on Sunday at BHEL X Roads.
Srikanth, who is from West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, settled in Miyapur 10 years ago and was close to Praveen. Srikanth, in the past was involved in few cases including attempt to murder and assault. Recently Srikanth, saw the victim Praveen interact with a member of a rival gang who Srikanth had tried to kill in the past.
Since then, Srikanth suspected that Praveen had joined hands with Srikanth’s rival gang and was conspiring to kill him, and hence decided to kill Praveen
“Srikanth told his wife Swathi that he decided to kill Praveen and that he had sought the help of another auto driver, Rajesh in the execution of murder. His wife also gave her dupatta to Srikanth. Later, Srikanth came out and sat in auto, along with Rajesh and Sinu, and the trio was driven by Praveen to a dumping yard near Dharmapuri temple,’’ Miyapur police said in a press note.
Srikanth strangled the victim with Rajesh and Sinu’s help. Rajesh soon fled the scene of the crime. The victim’s head was severed and it was brought to IDA Bollaram and abandoned.
