BHUBANESWAR: Six government hospitals in the state received LaQshya certification for maintaining quality of labour room and maternity operation theatre. These hospitals are Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, the community health centre at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district and the district headquarters hospitals (DHHs) in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and
Rayagada districts.
LaQshya is a programme launched by the Union ministry of health and family welfare last year. Through this programme, the ministry certifies community health centres (CHC), medical college and hospitals and district headquarters hospitals (DHH) by engaging external assessors.
The labour room and maternity OT at the Capital Hospital scored 93% and 95% respectively and met all the criteria under the LaQshya programme during an assessment by a two-member team of empanelled external assessors on June 12 and 13. Kandhamal DHHs labour room and maternity OT received 90% and 84% respectively during an assessment on June 3 and 4. Rayagada DHHs labour room and maternity OT secured 89% and 88% respectively on June 10 and 11. DHH Dhenkanal's labour room and maternity OT secured 91% and 96% respectively under this certification during the assessment on June 5 and 6. The CHC at Ghatagaon, Keonjhar, also received 86% for labour room and 89% for maternity OT on June 17 and 18.
Kalahandi DHHs labour room and maternity OT received 87% and 82% respectively. But the hospital met four out of five criteria under LaQshya programme. Hence, the labour room and maternity OT got LaQshya certified with conditions.
