She became the first Indian to bag a gold medal at the World Championships.
Marching towards the summit clash, Sindhu first defeated the former World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the quarters and then secured a comfortable straight games victory over All England Champion Chen Yu Fei in the semis. While the 2017 World Champion Okuhara had to settle for just a silver, China’s Chen Yufei and Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon won the bronze.

Sindhu: I am not satisfied yet
After beating Chen Yu Fei in the semifinal yesterday, PV Sindhu said, "It is important to keep yourself focused. It is not over yet for me. Yeah, I am happy but not satisfied yet. There is one more match to go and I would want to get the gold,” Sindhu told reporters after her win. It is not going to be easy. I have to be focused, patient and give my best in the final.”
