Karnal gangrape plaint ‘false’, claims police

KARNAL: The Karnal police have claimed that the gang rape complaint filed by a Rohtak women alleging that eight unidentified persons had assaulted her at Karnal railway station on August 14 has been found to be false.
The police said the woman had backtracked from her original allegation when presented in front of the district magistrate.
Karnal superintendent of police (SP) Surender Singh Bhoria said on Friday a zero FIR had been forwarded to the Karnal police by Rohtak cops to investigate a gang rape complaint in which a 50-year-old woman hasd alleged that eight unidentified persons had gang raped her near Karnal railway station on August 14. A police team was sent to Rohtak to record her statement, but she denied such an incident had taken place.
She said in her statement before the magistrate that she had fallen from the stairs in Rohtak and sustained injuries. The SP said that her family members told that she was mentally unstable and often stayed away from home for months.

As per the Zero FIR, on August 14 the woman was sitting at the platform of Karnal railway station when a man lured her on the pretext of providing food. He allegedly took her to an isolated building where seven other persons were already present. The woman was allegedly gang raped by them. A shopkeeper at the Rohtak railway station got her admitted to a hospital on August 17.
