The progresss made in ongoing ‘kudimaramathu’ works was reviewed by Public Works department (PWD) Additional Secretary and Special Officer for Kudimaramuthu Works M. Balaji here on Sunday.
At a meeting organised at the District Collectorate, Mr. Balaji said sanction had been accorded to carry out 66 works under the scheme through PWD in the district at a cost of ₹20.27 crore during 2019-20.
Irrigation channels were being dredged under a special scheme, he said.
He asked officials to complete the works speedily and advised them to send a daily progress report to the State government.
He also asked them to keep farmers’ associations informed of the works after completion of its particular percentage and the amount spent. He also asked them to use quality construction materials for works including strengthening of bunds.
Mr. Balaji also held a meeting with representatives of farmers’ associations, where he offered his suggestions regarding the works taken up by them and ascertained their views.
Collector P. Uma Maheswari, Special Monitoring Officer for Dredging Works Shreya Singh, officials from PWD nad other departments participated, an official release said.
