Daily Picks M Magazine August 25 - Monday
MONDAY, AUGUST 26
HOME AND AWAY ★★★½
7pm, Seven
There's not much time for milkshakes at the Summer Bay diner, not with all the hot button issues thrashed about. Eileen's stand against sexual assault is starting its own Me Too movement. At the hospital, the forthright new emergency doctor (Packed to the Rafters' Zoe Ventoura, an excellent addition to the cast) looks to be starting her own crusade for the medical use of cannabis. Meanwhile, Robbo's got a whole S.W.A.T. thing going, hunting a dangerous fugitive.
ROYALS AT WAR ★★
7.30pm, SBS
With nothing to work with regarding the Meghan-Markle-versus-Kate-Middleton beat-up, people proud to call themselves "royal watchers" trawl through the tabloid archives for flimsy evidence of previous regal spats. The point desperately trying to be proven here is that the British Royal family is just like us. So much so, that even Queen Elizabeth II deserves to be mum-shamed. No one's questioning the parenting choices of Prince Philip, however.
THE X-FILES ★★★
7.30pm, SBS Viceland
It's the '90s all over again as Scully and Mulder fend off the alien invasions the US government has been trying to keep secret. Sure, you could always catch up with this on SBS OnDemand, or binge on the entire back catalogue, but doesn't it feel kind of retro groovy to watch just one episode while it's actually on telly? This is the one where they find a stiff covered in slime.
