FTE to start process to get NBA certificate

VADODARA: MS University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) will start the process to seek National Board of Accreditation (NBA) certificate from Monday.
On Friday, university’s syndicate members had a lengthy discussion on the pending NBA accreditation of FTE because of which several alumni had to lose their jobs in Kuwait. The issue surfaced after around 20 former students of the faculty made representations last month seeking NBA certificate.
In their letters to the registrar, the alumni stated that while some of them had already lost their jobs, the remaining would lose theirs if they dont get an NBA certificate soon.
The Kuwait Society of Engineers require NBA certificate to give their no-objection certificate for renewal of visa for the gulf country.
During the meeting, syndicate members asked FTE dean to start the process for NBA certificate.
Dean, however, argued that as several posts of faculty members are vacant, approaching NBA would not serve any purpose.
A group of syndicate members and vice-chancellor (VC) however asked the dean to make at least some attempts towards this direction even if it meant getting NBA certificate for some departments.

VC also stressed that since the university has already started the process of appointment of teachers, the number of vacancies will come down.
After lengthy discussion, FTE dean agreed to start the process from Monday.
