PANAJI: A man was arrested on Saturday by Old
Goa police for
stalking a 14-year-old
girl.
Old Goa police inspector Jivba Dalvi told TOI that in the complaint filed by the mother of the minor, it was stated that when she had sent her teenaged daughter to a local shop, the
accused approached her and asked her to come to a remote place.
The minor, however, refused and upon returning home, narrated the incident to the mother, Dalvi said, quoting the complaint. He added that the complaint also stated that the girl had been asked by the accused to come to a remote place, on a previous ocassion, as well.
After the incident, the mother immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint upon which an FIR was registered.
Dalvi said that the accused was immediately apprehended from the locality and arrested under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Goa Children’s Act.
Further investigation is in progress.
