PUNE: Baburao Chandere and Aswad Patil will represent Maharashtra for the upcoming elections of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) slated for September 1 in New Delhi. Advocate Aswad Patil is the secretary of Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association, while Chandere is life member with the state association.
According to SP Garg, the administrator of the AKFI, each state organisation is entitled to sent two representatives to attend the elections and cast their vote for the same. In all, administrators from 28 states will attend the elections for office-bearers and Managing committee members.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State, Ajit Pawar was touted to play a major role for the elections, but his refusal-citing other unavoidable commitments meant Patil and Chandere will represent Maharashtra, one of the 28 permanent member state.
Chandere, a former civic standing committee chairman has a vast administrative experience of the sport in the state. He has been closely associated with nurturing talents from all the corners of the state for more than three decades. While Patil, is credited with the know-how of the legal aspects of the game.
