PUNE: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Subramanian Swamy lashed out against his own party’s minister in the previous Modi government and said wrong policies were adopted which has resulted in the economic slowdown.

Swamy was in Pune on Sunday, where he attended an RSS function in the evening. Swamy criticised former finance minister Arun Jaitley, who is now in critical condition in AIIMS in New Delhi for some ‘wrong policies’ such as levying high taxes.

Talking about the recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir and on Centre’s move to scrap the provisions of Article 370, which gave special powers to Jammu and Kashmir and the economy, Swamy said, “The economy needs to be corrected. My advice was not sought on the economic front. My advice was sought on Article 370 and it was done correctly.” “Yes, the economy should be given priority. In fact, both things are important for nation building and national security,” he added.
